Very well done video! Your deliberate pace and detailed explanation of each step as you were doing it made this a most valuable teaching video. As for your choice of string I think that there is probably a lot of leeway. In the remnants of a smashed up and torn up original box in my possession I found just a trace of the original all white string. However it could be just a bit of white that unraveled.from original red and white. Keep up the fine work.

Glad you liked the video. I am with you on the string theory. I have seen originals with both all white and the red and white twist. I think their thread was much finer than what I was using, If I was to get a different string in the future, I'd want to find a thinner cotton twine that would make using the pull cord a bit easier.

I made two of these and the boxes are too tall for my tins. Now I am using cheap tins so I’m thinking that might be the issue. What tins are you using in this video? I thought I had read who’s sharps rifle boxes and tins most of you were using but I can’t seem to find it now. Thank you.
